NUITS-SAINT-GEORGES
Village

Full-bodied, Nuits-Saint-Georges shows a deep, intense color. The aromas are powerful and complex, mingling cherry, blackcurrant, fur, and truffle.

Structured with prominent tannins, it finds balance in the interplay between texture and supple roundness—making it a bold and solid wine.

Terroir, ORIGIN,
and identity

Our small parcel lies within the “Les Allots” lieu-dit, north of Nuits-Saint-Georges. In Old French, alleu referred to a hereditary estate, in contrast to a fief, which was granted by a lord.

The vineyards of Nuits-Saint-Georges occupy the slope and the foot of the Côte. The landscape here is marked by a major geological fault. Layers of Middle Jurassic sedimentary rock have shifted downward along this fault, dropping several hundred meters. These sunken zones have been filled over time with marl and conglomerates from the Bresse Graben.

To the north of Nuits-Saint-Georges, Oligocene marl formations reach the surface. Clay-rich loess often covers the fault and blends with red silt, chaille (silicified limestone nodules), debris from alluvial fans, and river deposits from the Meuzin—a small river that splits the Nuits-Saint-Georges vineyard into northern and southern zones. The vines here sit at about 265 meters in elevation.
